Memphis Wrestling #140 - Halloween SPOOKtacular
October 28, 2023
by Doc Allen
Taped from the Haunted WrestleCenter, presumably in Memphis, Tennessee. Commentators are Macho Maria and Mr. Elizabeth.
MW Heritage Champion The Gunshow vs. Bull Bronson
The 400 pound Bronson splashes Gunshow from behind. Gunshow's shoulders don't work, so he stomps the foot. Bronson misses a Vader Bomb, Gunshow nails a lariat to win at 1:44. Sadly un-spooky squash.
Winner: The Gunshow
Mr. Elizabeth chats with Gunshow about their terrifying legal troubles.
A group of guys in face paint (later identified as The Posse) express remorse over not hitting Flex with their truck. I can't tell if they're dressed like evil mimes for Halloween or if this is their regular act.
Women's Champion Cassanda Golden catches up with a friend at what looks like Johnny Rocket's.
Trick of Treat Triple Threat:
Nixi XS vs. Bashley Bones vs. Cassandra Golden
Golden passes out candy to the fans, many of whom are adults in costumes. Golden gets double teamed at the bell. She fires back with a double clothesline. Golden fires hip attacks and boots Bones down for 2, Nixi failed to break the pin on time. Spinebuster by Golden and the Rings of Saturn finishes Nixi at 2:08. Abysmal match, but there were cobwebs on the ring post, so that was kind of fun.
Winner: Cassandra Golden
A creepy masked guy hangs out in an abandoned shack.
Interview with Tim Grind. He's remorseful that tragic things keep happening to his friend. First, his son is kidnapped and brainwashed. Now, his friend, Flex, was almost run over by a truck. Talk about a toxic work environment. The Posse attack Grind from behind, and I'm guessing one of them is his brainwashed son. Grind barely avoids a fireball, hitting a Posse guy instead.
Interview with Big John Dalton. He's been courted by the evil church known as The Righteous Path. BJD calls them out so he can rip their contract up in the Reverend's face.
Big John Dalton vs. Reverend Ash Taylor
Taylor turns his back, but the Righteous Path stable attacks BJD with the collection plate. DQ at 0:27. They're joined by some druids and carry Dalton away. Good for them.
Winner via DQ: Big John Dalton
Fan Halloween Costume Contest! There's an assortment of 80's wrestlers, Star Wars, Marvel, and some of the contestants are even children. We've even got a kid playing Jimmy Hart. The winners are a pair of lunatics dressed up as the Moondogs.
Monster Brawl Battle Royal:
Featuring Fred Flintsone, Wilma Flintstone, Mario, Luigi, The O'Neal Brothers, L.A. Hustlers, Mikey, Austin O'Malley, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Waldo, and Dr. Doom
I think the favorite has to be Spider-Man, with his web slinging and all. Don't count out Mario, especially if he's juicing on some Mushrooms. Everyone brawls at the bell, but even more competitors join the fun. First, is
J. Webb, a typical horror villian. They're joined by the
Twins of Salem, who cast a spell that sends us to a Sonic commercial. They return with everyone freaking out over the Twins. The punchy/kicky festival continues until
Crazzy Steve joins the party. I know, I'm as shocked to see an actual professional in this farce as you are. Steve runs wild and throws Luigi out. Out goes an O'Neal brother.
Kevin Thorn, likely suffering a mid-life crisis, interrupts a Deadpool/Spiderman showdown. Thorn eliminates Spiderman and probably plans on shooting Uncle Ben later. Out goes Mario.
Gangrel comes out and makes a mess spitting blood all over the floor. Gangrel sends Fred back to the stone age and Webb back to the mud shack.
Krule (with Brooklyn) enters and cleans house on all the weekend warriors. He finds Waldo and gives him a chokeslam. The final 4 are Steve, Krule, Thorn, and Gangrel, you know, the only fully trained wrestlers in the match. Steve stabs Krule with a fork but gets tossed anyway. The vampires team up against Krule. Mikey wasn't eliminated and returns (such a shame they didn't use Waldo here) but is easily thrown out. Krule boots out Thorn. Gangrel and Krule battle on the apron until Gangrel takes a gentle boot to the face. Krule wins at 14:09. This was like a negative star match, but a totally slept on WrestleCrap experience.
Winner: Krule
Final Thoughts: Absolutely nothing of substance, but lots of Halloween Havok cheesiness. Look this up on Youtube.
